Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill is set to offer the defender Martin Laursen a new deal if he can maintain his fitness next season.

The Dane has been dogged by knee problems since his £3m move from Milan in 2004 and O'Neill said: "Laursen has played fantastically well. It's about staying clear of injury and getting a run of games."
