Aston Villa defender Martin Laursen admits he's eager to open new contract talks.

Laursen said: "Of course, everyone knows that I want to stay at Villa and make progress with them.

"But as yet there have not been any talks (over a new contract). The club want to make sure I can be fit for most of the season."
