Michael Laudrup is on standby in the event Blackburn Rovers are blocked from making MK Dons boss Paul Ince new manager.
And despite some complaints, several Premier League chairmen have been asked about any potential opposition - and the indications look good.
Red tape means Ince may not officially get the job until Monday.
And Laudrup's agent Bayram Tutumlu said: "We spoke with Blackburn on Tuesday and talks went well.
"Michael would certainly be interested in the job."
Rovers chairman John Williams said last night: "We've not made an offer to anyone yet."
