Swansea City boss Michael Laudrup was proud of his players after their draw at Wigan Athletic.
Laudrup believes the guts and determination shown by his players suggests a positive season is ahead.
"We have played four games, if you include the Capital One Cup, but this was the most important match for me as manager," he said.
"I saw so many great things, so much character in the team. We lost Neil early in the game with a serious injury, then the first time we made a mistake, the first time we allowed them near our goal, they scored.
"We got a great goal but then we conceded a goal after the end of the six minutes of stoppage time, so we go in 2-1 down.
"We played great football in the second half and finally created things to come back again, but then we had a man sent off and you are wondering what will happen.
"But we just kept the ball and played it around and didn't give them a chance to take advantage.
"It's really important as a manager to see the character of your side and see how you when everything is against you.
"We showed we can do that well and it is just a point and not three, but it is worth much more than that to me."
