Denmark legend Brian Laudrup is confident 28-year-old Schalke misfit Peter Lovenkrands will make his mark at Newcastle United.

Laudrup said: "He's had a very tough time at Schalke and nobody can deny that, but he's got the chance to prove himself at a new club now.

"I know he is desperate to play in the World Cup next year, and the fact he is still under serious consideration from the national team underlines the ability we all feel he still has."
