The new contract keeps him at Tynecastle until 2012, and Glen said: "I am obviously delighted to sign this new deal.
"There is a lot of hard work ahead of me but having experienced first-team football this season, I want to keep my head down and try to gain more opportunities."
Glen had a trial with Manchester United before signing for Hearts and big things are expected of the youngster who had made two appearances off the bench before lining up against St Mirren.
Caretaker manager Stephen Frail told heartsfc.co.uk: "We have high hopes for the lad.
"This is just the start for him and he has to knuckle down and make sure he is ready to make the most of whatever opportunities may come his way."
