Late strike hands Man Utd win in Valencia

The pain in Spain falls on Valencia who fell to a smash and grab performance from Manchester United who snatched a 1-0 win at the Mestalla courtesy of substitute Javier Hernandez. An uneventful first half ended with both team's seemingly content to take a point from a scoreless draw.

The second period was more entertaining but appeared to be heading for draw until the 85th minute when Hernandez, who had earlier hit the woodwork, finally found the back of the net.

The Mexican linked with fellow substitute Federico Macheda before taking one touch and firing home.

Valencia will feel hard done by as for they had been the better side but it's Manchester United who collect three Champions League points.
