Lastuvka chooses Bochum over Birmingham

Former Fulham goalkeeper Jan Lastuvka is set to join Bochum on loan, snubbing reported interest from Birmingham City in the process.

The Czech shot-stopper spent a largely unsuccessful season at Craven Cottage last term, making just eight Premiership appearances as he acted as Antti Niemi's understudy.

The Czech press are reporting that Steve Bruce was interested in bringing the keeper to St Andrews, but Lastuvka will now move to the Bundesliga with Bochum as he continues his search for regular football.

"I mainly need to play, last season was not very successful," Lastuvka told CTK.

"Very important for me has been the fact that Bochum have been very keen on me. It is always important for a goalkeeper to feel faith in him.

"I have not yet spoken to anyone at the club. I must travel back to the Ukraine on Sunday to handle some details and next week I should appear in Germany."

Lastuvka's agent Pavel Zika added: "I cannot say yet that the loan deal has been agreed but everything is in a very good way."
