Las Palmas boss Setien: West Ham's Calleri what I am looking for

Las Palmas manager Quique Setien has admitted that he is keen on acquiring the services of West Ham United flop Jonathan Calleri.

Calleri has failed to make any sort of impact whatsoever since joining West Ham on loan at the start of the season and it is widely expected that the Argentine attacker will be cutting his stay at London Stadium short this month.

A number of clubs have expressed their interest in signing Calleri recently and now Las Palmas boss Setien has gone on to admit that he would be happy to recruit the 23-year-old during the current transfer window following a number of previous failed attempts.

Setien, who also wants Calleri's fellow Deportivo Maldonado loanee Hernan Toledo (currently with Fiorentina), was quoted saying by Canarias 7: "We already wanted Calleri and Hernán Toledo last summer.

"They have not played much until now in their teams (West Ham and Fiorentina) and we have to take advantage of the opportunities because this club cannot pay money for players.

"Let's see if we have the chance to rehabilitate them as we have done with other players.

"There are talks but the club have not told me that the deals are done yet. They will be good reinforcements to keep growing if they are confirmed. Both are close to the profile I am looking for.

"Calleri is an interesting striker and Hernan has some good characteristics."

However, Las Palmas have competition from La Liga rivals Sevilla and Deportivo La Coruña for Calleri.
