Sunderland ace Sebastian Larsson says victory over Liverpool came after lessons learned from their defeat to West Bromwich Albion.
Since the Baggies thrashing, Sunderland have drawn at Newcastle United and beaten Liverpool.
Larsson said: "We know we have to do to be successful. Since the manager came in, we have had one reality check and that was away to West Brom.
"We said then, 'Let's not repeat that', and so far, we haven't. If we work as hard as we did today and last weekend, we know we are a good team.
"We know we can win games and we have beaten some big teams here now, and we feel very close to them."
