Henrik Larsson appears to have priced himself out of a return to the Premiership next month.
The former Manchester United striker was a target for Aston Villa and Everton ahead of the January market.
However, the Independent says Larsson's £80,000-a-week wage demands have turned off both Premiership clubs.
