Sunderland midfielder Sebastian Larsson admits he's yet to hear from the club about a new deal.
The Swede now has less than a year to run on his existing contract.
"It has been busy this summer and we have said we'll take it a little further," the 28-year-old told Folkbladet.
Larsson has left the door open to signing for IFK Norrkoping later in his career, where his father once played.
"He played here before I was born, but I went and watched a few games when I was younger.
"Well, who knows. You should never close any doors."
