Joan Laporta has denied claims he wants Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho to join his Barcelona presidential ticket. Laporta met with Mourinho's agent, Jorge Mendes, last week.
Laporta, who spent seven years at the Barca helm between 2003 and 2010, will be eligible for re-election in 2016, is rumoured to be interested in bringing the former Real Madrid manager back to Spain.
But speaking to Catalan newspaper L'Esportiu, Laporta has distanced himself for the speculation.
"My style of coaching is with the [Johan] Cruyff philosophy," said Laporta.
"Mourinho is a great professional and I respect him, but I did not mention him with Jorge Mendes, a person with whom I have a good friendship for many years.
"From time to time, we talk about things."
