Former Barcelona president Joan Laporta has defended the spending during his reign.
Laporta has been criticised for his lavish spending.
But he said: "I wanted to make life comfortable for the players. We are well aware of everything that was done. They talk about the gifts that we bought players, and the awards they received for winning, but the titles are appreciated.
"It was a matter of respect for the professionals who did a very good job. We tried to make life comfortable for all players, because they earned it."
