Langfield chasing new Aberdeen contract

Aberdeen goalkeeper Jamie Langfield is chasing a new deal at Pittodrie.

The 27-year-old lost the number one jersey to Derek Soutar after a chance meeting with manager Jimmy Calderwood on his stag night in May turned sour.

Calderwood, who had rejected a bid from Rangers for the keeper weeks before the incident, withdrew an offer to extend Langfield's contract, which expires at the end of this season.

But Langfield hopes his attitude and impressive return to the first team can prompt another U-turn.

"The matter that happened between me and the manager is private and will be kept private," he said. "People will speculate that it was this, that and the next thing but it has always been private between me and the manager.

"The thing is, no-one can question my commitment to Aberdeen, I am 110% an Aberdeen player, I want to win a new contract here.

"I have been working hard throughout the summer and even when I've not been playing.

"I want to remain here and be part of what is going on at this club."
