Mitch Langerak made his UEFA Champions League debut on Wednesday night as Borussia Dortmund were beaten 2-1 by Napoli at the Stadio San Paolo.
The 25-year old Australian goalkeeper was called upon when number one Roman Weidenfeller was sent off for handling the ball outside the area just before half-time.
Langerak entered the fray when it was 1-0 to Napoli following Gonzalo Higuain's goal on the half-hour mark but could not deny the Italians a second as Lorenzo Insigne bent a superb free-kick around the wall and into the back of the net with just over 20 minutes remaining.
Dortmund were able to pull one back courtesy of an 87th minute own-goal from Camilo Zuniga but the damage had earlier been done with Napoli's two goals and Weidenfeller's red card.
Nevertheless, they were some valuable minutes for Langerak who continues to develop his game whilst waiting in the wings with the Bundesliga club.
