Lampard yet to be offered a role at former club Chelsea

Chelsea have yet to approach Frank Lampard over a possible role at the club and are in no rush to do so despite him leaving New York City, reports the London Evening Standard.

Lampard's contract with the MLS side has not been renewed and Chelsea's all-time leading goal-scorer has revealed he will make a decision on his next destination 'very soon'.

Should he return to Chelsea as a coach, there is also the issue of the club needing to find room for him. The arrival of Antonio Conte in the summer has seen a 10-strong backroom staff put in place, including three assistant managers, plus former goalkeepers Carlo Cudicini and Henrique Hilario.

Chelsea have also employed ex-players Eddie Newton, Tore Andre Flo, Jody Morris and Jon Harley to work with loan or Academy players, while Paulo Ferreira is an ambassador.

There is also the possibility that the 38 year old will continue to prolong his playing career.
