Lampard wants missed penalty to motivate Chelsea

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard says last night's missed penalty call should be a motivating factor for the London club. The Blues were denied the chance to level the scores in the Champions League quarter-final first leg against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge when Patrice Evra clearly brought down Ramires in injury time.

Referee Alberto Undiano certainly missed the penalty call as United scored a 1-0 away win ahead of the return leg at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

Lampard knows nothing can be done about the non-decision but said that Blues players can really use is a revenge mechanism in their next few matches.

"We can't really think like that too much because it's negative thoughts," he said.

"We just use it to motivate us, really.

"Everyone knows it was a penalty, but he didn't give it - simple as that. I can't believe he didn't give it.

"It was blatant - everyone in the stadium saw that."

Despite trailing United by a goal, Lampard is remaining confident that the playing group can produce a good enough performance to get past their arch rivals and move into the final four of Europe's premier club competition.

"We know we can win there but, obviously, it makes it a bit more difficult," Lampard added.

"Ideally, you get a result at home, in front of your home fans. But it wasn't to be.

"So we've made it a must to go and win there.

"People will make Man United favourites and probably rightly so, considering they've won at our place.

"But we're certainly still in the game and we've got a belief in ourselves that we can go there and win."
