Chelsea matchwinner Frank Lampard admits a successful title defence is still a long shot after victory over Manchester United.
Lampard, whose 79th minute penalty clinched the win, acknowledged there is still plenty of ground for the title holders to make up on United.
However, the experienced midfielder was pleased with the way Chelsea demonstrated they are not ready to give up their crown without a fight.
"I don't know about firmly back in it, it's still a lot of points," Lampard told Sky Sports.
"But all we could do today was win the game, try to show a signal that we're trying to get back in it and close that gap.
"We did that today but there's still a long way to go. Man Utd are deservedly top but we've got some fight as we showed tonight."
