Lampard satisfied with Chelsea display at Stoke

Frank Lampard is glad Chelsea utilised the width against Stoke City on Sunday but was unimpressed with the Potters style of play. The Blues had to settle for a scoreless draw in their opening game of the 2011/12 Premier League season.

"We played with more width this year," Lampard told Chelsea TV after the match. "When you have width you can open them up and you can cause them problems.

"We stopped them floating the balls behind us and getting so many set pieces and being so dangerous."

The 33-year-old did admit though it was not the sort of game for the purists.

"But it's not the most enjoyable game because they break it up so much and take so much time with all the set-plays, but that's their style," he stated.
