Lampard ready to ink new Chelsea contract

Frank Lampard is ready to sign a new three-year contract with Chelsea.

The Sunday Mirror says following his mother Pat's recent death, Lampard has confided to members of his family that he is ready to stay and will commit his future to Chelsea. Contract talks with the Blues hierarchy had broken down and it seemed certain Lampard would be reunited with Jose Mourinho at the manager's next club - in Spain or Italy.

Frank is extremely close to his father, Frank Snr. His mother Pat's death has been a significant factor in his decision to remain at Chelsea.

Lampard, 29, made a heroic return to inspire Chelsea's passage to the Champions League Final last week.
