Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard insists England's debutants can be proud of their performances in defeat to Chile. Hodgson handed debuts to Celtic goalkeeper Fraser Forster and Southampton duo Adam Lallana and Jay Rodriguez and Lampard was impressed with the contribution of Saints skipper Lallana.
"I thought he was very lively," he said.
"Both Southampton boys deserved their chances and on another day he [Lallana] might have had two goals on his debut."
