Lampard hails Cech influence on Chelsea campaign

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has highlighted the influence of Petr Cech this season.

Lampard believes Cech has played a huge role in dragging Chelsea into the top four.

He told the London Evening Standard: "I think it is too easy to overlook a goalkeeper's performance when they're that good. People talk about mistakes and things like that but Pete's consistency and level in our team since he has been at the club has been amazing.

"He is a real presence, a great lad and a leader in the dressing room, everything about him is great. People talk about goalkeeper of the year and maybe overlook Pete. That's only because he's been so good that they take him for granted.

"It's not for me to comment on what will happen with Courtois. He looks a great keeper on loan and it's a good thing for the club that we've got that.

"But with Pete he can go on for years, that's for sure. He is fit as a fiddle. He's only 30 so in goalkeeping years he's got a long way ahead of him.

"That [the Courtois situation] will all pan out in the future but we've got no danger with a man like Pete in goal against Benfica."
