Frank Lampard hailed Chelsea's character after their victory at Burnley.

The England midfielder says they showed the right necessary grit to overcome the Clarets at Turf Moor.

"Burnley didn't have many chances apart from that but it was a great finish by Steven Fletcher and it was horrible time to lose a goal," he admitted to chelseafc.com.

"It gave them a lift second half and we had to regroup. We have plenty of character in the squad and sometimes you have got to show it and this time we did.

"This is a very important stage of the season. We are in good form at the minute and it is important that we keep the run going. We play good football but this game we showed a little bit of grit to come back when they pulled level. We kept creating chances.

"We knew it would be a very difficult place to come on a cold night and we deserved to win the game. We knew what we were coming up against, we prepared the right way and we got the win."
