Lampard believes Derby are Premier League club

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard believes that his current club, Derby County, are "a Premier League club."

Lampard is relishing his first managerial job, where he is hoping to get the Rams back into the top light.

He is promising the fans entertaining football. But he also wants to deliver on the promise of promotion.

"[Derby] was sold to me, and it wasn't a hard sell because of the size of the club. I know the size of the stadium, the training facilities and infrastructure that has been set up here," he saids to Sky Sports.

"I know that it has been 10 years outside of the Premier League, but when I actually first drove to Derby I was struck by the passion and intensity of the fan-base in this city, what it means to every fan here.

"It all added up. I took advice from everywhere that I could have done and it was a very quick answer for me.

"Of course promotion is the target, every club in the Championship has the same target. But we will go step-by-step. We want to maximise everything out of the team.

"The simple is: we want to finish as high as we can, we want to get promoted, because this is a Premier League club. We must start with those intentions, the players know that. We all want it together here, the staff, the whole building, want to get this club into the Premier League."
