Lampard assures Man City fans: I'll celebrate the next goal

Frank Lampard has assured Manchester City fans he will definitely celebrate his next goal.

His late strike yesterday that ended Chelsea's 100 per cent start to the league campaign could prove to be an important moment.

"It was completely surreal," said Lampard. "It was a great game to watch - both teams participated but City certainly didn't deserve to lose the game, at least.

"But for me to go on there, try and do my job, and get that reaction from my old club, was amazing. But the reaction from the home fans as well means I have come away in a bit of a whirlwind from it all. It was a strange but pretty special day.

"There are games coming up and if I can score and help the team then there will be a bit more excitement on my face, but having been there for 13 years and getting the reception I got throughout those years and when I came on from Chelsea's fans, I wasn't going to react any other way.

"But the City fans were nice when I was warming up. When I can reflect on this I don't know if I can say it was a good day because nobody lost, but we fight on now in a very good Premier League.

"The people at Chelsea, I still talk to a lot of them now. They are unbelievable and it is a very homely club. At Man City I have found it exactly the same. I'm very fortunate."
