Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert was delighted with the first day of preseason training yesterday.
The squad jet off for a tour of Germany on Sunday - where they play three games - ahead of the start of the season on August 17 at Arsenal.
"It is good to be back. You have six weeks off and before you know it you are back in," he said.
"It seems to be a really quick turnaround this year. But it is good to be back.
"The first day is pretty light but the standard was very high which is pleasing.
"The standard of the passing was extremely high. You are in the perfect place to do it here at Bodymoor. The pitches here at the minute are fantastic and they are like that all year round. But the first day back was pleasing."
