Lambert thrilled to see competition for Bent's spot at Villa

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert is loving the fact that he has a handful of capable strikers to compete with Darren Bent for an attacking position.

The former Norwich City boss has the likes of Christian Benteke, Gabby Agbonlahor and Andreas Weimann vying for a spot in the first team and he feels that is great competition for England international Bent.

"You need the competition. It is the whole team ethic you need to have and that's what I look for," he said in the wake of last night's 3-2 Capital One Cup win over Swindon Town.

"You win games with individual brilliance but you need the team and I can't ask for any more effort than what they have given me."
