Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert is seeking to spend bigger this summer.
Lambert will ask owner Randy Lerner and chief executive Paul Faulkner for transfer funds this summer so he can avoid a third straight season of struggle.
Lambert said: "I never came here for it to be like this. If you get this club right then you have an incredible fanbase to drive it a long, long way.
"I'll speak with Randy and Paul when the season is done and dusted and we see where we go.
"There are players there that I've had my eye on but they probably cost a little bit of money. Everybody knows in this division you've got to spend to get yourself up there."
