Lambert looking to further stabilize at Aston Villa

Paul Lambert admitted it was a simple decision to extend his stay with Aston Villa.

The Scotsman signed a four-year contract extension as manager on Wednesday and has spoken about the ease of his choice of committing himself to the West Midlands club for the foreseeable future.

Lambert also touched on stabilizing things at Villa Park and that being the reason for such a strong beginning to the new campaign.

"The chairman (Randy Lerner) came to me a few weeks ago and asked what I was thinking. I heard his views and he heard mine," Lambert said.

"I love being here, it's an absolutely fantastic club. I have always had a great working relationship with the chairman. He asked for my feelings and I was delighted to do it (sign a new contract).

"I can't ask any more from the chairman, he has been totally transparent with the way the club is going to go.

"Lads signing new contracts has been great and with new lads coming into the club, everything is really positive.

"Our start in the league has been fantastic, so everything now is in a good place. You keep building on that and you can get stability in your club."

Villa currently sit second on the Premier League table with three victories and a draw from their first four outings. Lambert's men get the chance to strengthen that record when they take on seventh-placed Arsenal at home on Saturday.
