Lambert gutted for Villa's Benteke but insists: He will get more World Cup chances

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has admitted his disappointment for injured striker Christian Benteke.

The 23-year old Belgian forward has been ruled out of this summer's World Cup with an Achilles injury sustained last week in training.

Although Lambert is deeply gutted for Benteke, he says the talented goalscorer will certainly get many more chances to represent what should be a fairly successful time for football in Belgium.

"No one knew the extent of the injury and we had to wait and see what it was," Lambert told reporters.

"We were hoping it was just a strain but weren't sure until he went to the hospital.

"He's okay at the moment but whether that's just a feeling of shock I'm not sure. He knows he's going to miss the World Cup but he's in a generation of Belgium players you think will qualify for more tournaments."
