Lambert determined to fire Southampton to safety

Southampton striker Ricki Lambert insists he can fire them to safety.

The Saints have lost five games in a row and conceded a Premier League record-busting 29 goals in just 11 fixtures.

But Lambert said: "Losing games and losing points doesn't help the place and it hurts the players - that's what we want to rectify.

"If one team loses on Saturday it doesn't mean they are automatically down. It's not the best situation to be in but there's still a long, long way to go.

"It'll be important not to lose the game which we understand but it's not the end of the world.

"I don't really feel the pressure but my job is to score goals and win games and that's what I will be trying to do against QPR.

"I'm not happy when I don't score in any game so having a run of six matches without a goal is frustrating."
