Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert says victory over Chelsea was their best performance since his arrival.

Fabian Delph's inspired late winner saw Villa send nine-man Chelsea plummeting to their first defeat in 15 Premier League matches and throw the title race wide open.

Lambert said: "From start to finish, it probably was the best my team have played in my time here.

"When you play Chelsea, you have got to stay in the game for as long as you can, as the longer the game goes you might get a little sniff at it. As the game grew, all we needed was that little bit of relief in the second half to get a goal."
