LaLiga president Javier Tebas: I can now see Barcelona, Espanyol leaving us

LaLiga president Javier Tebas admits there's a very real prospect of Barcelona and Espanyol being barred from remaining with the competition.

If Catalonia secure independence, Barcelona and Espanyol's LaLiga membership will be in doubt.

And Tebas is quoted by Foot Mercato: "We will see what happens with the declaration of independence. If it happens, I will call the Catalan clubs. The break would not be immediate, but it would depend on the Catalan federation.

"If it supports this position, well the clubs would be expelled from the Spanish competitions. We must obey the rules.

"A few months ago I did not imagine a Liga without Barça and Espanyol, but now unfortunately I see it as a possibility. We would lose value, but we would not find it very difficult to recover.

"I'm worried about Barça. Speaking with directors of Barça and other Catalan clubs, they suffer from a lot of pressures coming from separatism. There are some who are independentists, others who want to stay in Spain. I do not know. We are facing a game of chess. We will see what will happen, and we will see the position of the Catalan federation."
