Alexi Lalas is no longer part of the front office at LA Galaxy, but that hasn't stopped him naming a price for Landon Donovan. Speaking on an MLS pre-game playoff show, Lalas stated the asking price should be around $15 million for the star striker.
With MLS owning player contracts, something very different from the rest of the world, many inside the game often feel they price their players out of the opportunity of career development moves.
"Of course, Bayern Munich would rather pay $6 or $7 million," said Lalas. "The two sides might reach agreement somewhere in the middle."
Donovan is currently training with Bayern Munich, with many predicting that this could be with a view to a permanent move.
Donovan is at the end of his current salary contract with LA Galaxy and at the age of 26 will be looking at these next four years as absolutely crucial for his career.
