Lafferty expected back for Rangers' clash with PSV

Rangers could get back striker Kyle Lafferty for Thursday night's Europa League clash with PSV Eindhoven.

'Gers meet the Dutch Eredivisie league leaders at Philips Stadion in the Round of 16 first leg and could be boosted by the return of 23-year old Lafferty who has been sidelined for around three weeks with tonsillitis.

Rangers boss Walter Smith said both Lafferty and flying winger Vladimir Wiss, who has a foot injury, may be called in for the trip to Holland.

"There is a chance Kyle and Vladimir could be with us over in Holland. That would be a big boost," he said.

"It will be a last-minute decision on whether they travel but the signs are promising.

"We will have to see if Kyle's tonsillitis problem settles down in time, while Vladimir has a badly bruised foot which has been uncomfortable in terms of striking the ball.

"We're certainly hopeful both will travel but if not they should be ready for Sunday's Killie game.

"The benefit of using someone like Vladimir away from home is that he can hold the ball up and perhaps hurt the opposition with his pace."
