Alexandre Lacazette has spoken of how he managed to sign for Arsenal ahead of Atletico Madrid over the summer.

The former Lyon striker appeared all set to join Atletico before Arsenal stepped in.

He told RMC: "I joined Arsenal because with Atlético, it did not reach the end of the discussions. Arsenal was already in the dance, it is a stable club, with a coach there for a long time, a philosophy of play that I liked, a beautiful city.

"Atlético was a step ahead and I weighed the pros and cons and decided to join Arsenal. I talked a lot with the coach, we had the same points of view, he could make me progress in several areas, if I succeeded there I knew that I could play in the France team, for now it does not appear lies."

Lacazette added: "We talked with PSG but quickly, I knew it was not where I wanted to go. In France, for me, it was only Lyon. Paris could have made me progress because they have great players but I wanted to know another championship."
