La Liga president Javier Tebas says there's plans to stage official games abroad.
Tebas discusses Spanish football's global strategy yesterday.
“In the medium term we're going to play la Liga and Copa del Rey matches abroad. In the short term this won't be possible and we haven't decided where to play these games. We need to develop the project and of course, get the necessary international permits from UEFA and FIFA. At the moment FIFA is a bit busy with the corruption scandal."
Tebas added: “English isn't the fundamental to win followers. The language isn't as important to us as our teams growing and competing. If we have the stars then Japan, Indonesia and many more countries will watch Spanish football. The U.S., China and Africa are strategic for the growth of Spanish football."
