​La Liga live on Facebook

La Liga, the governing body for the top two divisions of club football in Spain, has announced a deal with social networking website Facebook to stream live matches on the platform, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/.

La Liga began the free broadcasts, which cover Friday night games from the Primera División, on Facebook in Spain on 17th February through a partnership with the league's technical services supplier Mediapro.

Fans were able to watch Granada defeat Real Betis 4-1 in the league's Primera División via La Liga's official Facebook profile and broadcaster Gol's Facebook page, and Friday La Liga matches will continue to be streamed on the social network until the end of the current season.

GolTV, which has held rights to show La Liga matches since 2003, broadcasts to English and Spanish-speaking fans in the US.
