LA Galaxy star David Beckham has declared he wants to captain Team GB at the London Olympics.
At a press conference in which the 36-year-old revealed he turned down two offers from Barclays Premier League clubs to stay at LA Galaxy for two more years, he appeared to suggest he is already assured of a place in Stuart Pearce's squad this summer.
"It's an Olympics in the east end of London, where I grew up, and I am excited about, hopefully, being involved. I've had conversations with Stuart Pearce and as long as I'm fit, healthy and in form, hopefully I have a chance of making the team.""Obviously it's great that Galaxy are on board with the fact that I will be gone for that time," said former Manchester United and Real Madrid star Beckham.
