England ace David Beckham says he can outdo Pele and make soccer a hit in the USA.
LA Galaxy midfielder Beckham, who is battling against an ankle injury, said: "Thirty years ago you had great players like Pele, Franz Beckenbauer, George Best and Rodney Marsh here.
"But great players as they were, the league is much more stable these days.
"I've come over at a time when there is talent, money and strength in this league.
"I want to be part of something and that is why I decided to play in MLS. Everyone knows the US is one of the biggest sporting nations in the world.
"Not to have soccer as one of the top three sports here is amazing.
"I am not saying it will be as big as baseball, basketball or American football but we can raise it to a level where people are starting to take notice.
"There are parts of the world that are talking about MLS and the Galaxy that had probably never heard of them before."
