LA Galaxy's Beckham primed to face West Ham

England ace David Beckham will play for the MLS Allstars in their clash with West Ham United later this month.

LA Galaxy midfielder Beckham was named on Thursday among the top 11 selections in MLS All-Star voting by fans, coaches and the media.

Beckham, speaking in a recorded video interview, said he expected a competitive outing against West Ham, the English Premier League club closest to his childhood home in east London.

"I've played against a few of the players before in the Premiership and it's always going to be a tough game," Beckham said.

"They're preparing for the season, it's their pre-season, so they'll be working hard to get their fitness and it will be an interesting game."

MLS All-Star First XI squad: Matt Reis (New England), Jimmy Conrad (Kansas City), Frankie Hedjuk (Columbus), Michael Parkhurst (New England), David Beckham (Los Angeles), Cuauhtemoc Blanco (Chicago), Shalrie Joseph (New England), Sacha Kljestan (Chivas USA), Robbie Rogers (Columbus), Kenny Cooper (Dallas), Landon Donovan (Los Angeles).
