England boss Fabio Capello intends to axe LA Galaxy midfielder David Beckham from his squad for their friendly with Germany.

The Sun says the former skipper, one cap short of Bobby Moore's outfield player record of 108, is about to pay the price for LA Galaxy's failure to reach the MSL play-offs.

It is believed Becks, 33, will lack match fitness for the prestigious friendly in Berlin as he will not have played a serious game for three weeks.

Now Beckham's ability to reach Moore's milestone - and perhaps go beyond it - will depend on how he gets on when he joins AC Milan on loan from January 7.
