Jack McBean and Jose Villarreal were both named in the LA Galaxy academy squad for the upcoming Real Sociedad Youth Invitational Tournament in Spain.
17-year old McBean, who became the Galaxy's first homegrown signing in January last year, and 18-year old Villarreal were surprise selections in the squad as it was believed they would remain with the seniors.
But nevertheless the pair will head to Spain and are both eager to get over there and do their best with their fellow Galaxy young guns.
"It's going to be a really fun competition. We've been preparing for it for a while now. I know all the academy kids are really excited to go over there and showcase themselves.
"I think we're strong and we're going in pretty confident." Villarreal added: "I'm just hoping to get a good experience out of it.
"I was pretty overwhelmed when I was told I was going to go on the trip.
"I've been out for about 10 weeks," he added referring to surgery he had on both of his shins during the off-season. "I'm just taking it step by step, getting back in shape and getting my touches.
"I'm just excited for the trip. I'm ready for the challenge.""I'm really excited to get over there and play," said McBean.
