LA Galaxy visit good exposure for Philippines - ex-Chelsea forward Younghusband

Former Chelsea forward Phil Younghusband is excited about the LA Galaxy's visit to the Philippines.

The 24-year old English-born currently plies his trade for Loyoloa Agila but is preparing to meet his idol David Beckham when Philippines national team takes on MLS Cup winners the Galaxy in a post-season tour match.

Younghusband, who joined the Chelsea youth academy in1997 before moving on in 2008, is looking forward to the clash on December 3 at Rizal Memorial Stadium as it will do a lot to bring some much-needed publicity to the sport in the fledgling football nation.

"It's good exposure for the Azkals, not only locally but internationally and it'll be a good experience for the team," he said.

"I think last year we would never have been able to get this type of game in the Philippines.

"To have David Beckham come over who...I mean, he's one of the reasons I played football. He's been my idol. I used to copy his haircut when I was younger. Used to copy the way he used to dress.

"He was one of my, my biggest idols, football idols, ever since I was seven or eight years old. To get the chance to play with him, knowing that he's coming to the end of his career, it's a dream come true for me."
