Landon Donovan has pulled out of the USA squad for upcoming friendlies with France and Slovenia.
The LA Galaxy attacker has decided to remain in the States so he can prepare for the MLS Cup final against Houston Dynamo in California on November 20.
USA coach Juergen Klinsmann said there were plans to have Donovan stay just for the match against France in Paris on Friday before returning home but he has chosen to stay in Los Angeles.
"The plan was to have Landon come in for the match against France and then return to the LA Galaxy in preparation for MLS Cup, but after further discussion Landon expressed his desire to stay in Los Angeles," said Klinsmann.
"While my preference was to have Landon with us for this important match, I respect his decision.
"I'm very happy with the progress this team is making and the commitment they have shown in each and every camp. We look forward to the challenge of the next two games."
No replacement will be named in the US roster which takes on Slovenia in Ljubljana four days after the France fixture.
