Los Angeles Galaxy crock David Beckham is yet to decide if he will join England's World Cup squad.

Beckham is out of competitive football until September due to his injured Achilles tendon but Fabio Capello values his experience and the example he provides to younger players.

While Beckham is available, he is waiting until the management have clearly defined his role before a decision is taken, as he would not want to be seen as a mere cheerleader in the squad, says the Mail on Sunday.

Capello would most likely use Beckham as a mentor to younger players and an unofficial assistant to the management team, working alongside the Italian's real assistant, Franco Baldini.
