LA Galaxy star Beckham suffers health foods setback

LA Galaxy star David Beckham's venture into health foods has suffered a setback. The Daily Star says the England star, currently on-loan with AC Milan, launched the microwave GO3 range just three months ago.

The 12 frozen ready meals - including favourites such as fish fingers, pasta, wraps and omelettes - were aimed at giving families a healthy option.

Dad-of-three Becks said at the time: "They are designed to get the kids eating the things they need without necessarily realising they are eating well."

But the maker - the Findus frozen food company Newcastle Productions - has become another victim of the credit crunch and gone into administration.

A spokeswoman for Becks said the ex-Manchester United and Real Madrid star would not axe the food range and was looking for a new producer.

She said: "GO3 was independent of Newcastle Productions. David is actively pursuing other avenues so his food line can continue."

Becks said he launched the range because he struggled to get his sons Brooklyn, nine, Romeo, six, and Cruz, three, to eat their greens.

The news was part of a double blow to the LA Galaxy star, who has also been told that his custom-made luxury apartment in the world's tallest building has been put on ice.

The midfielder, who is currently on loan at AC Milan, had planned to snap up a £5million Armani-designed pad in the Burj Dubai tower in Dubai.

He hoped it would be ready by September. But Middle East developer Nakheel has delayed work for a year on the skyscraper, which is already the world's tallest building at 780 metres, despite not being completed.
