LA Galaxy captain Robbie Keane was delighted with how his side ground out a 1-0 victory on the road over Vancouver Whitecaps on the weekend.

The back-to-back MLS champions scored early through Landon Donovan and we are able to maintain a clean sheet at BC Place to enhance their playoff chances in a result that buoyed Keane.

“We said at halftime, we're always very eager every time we get the ball to go forward as quick as possible, but sometimes you have to see the game out,” Keane said.

“Of course, we want to get the second goal, there's no question about that, but if it doesn't happen, we have to focus on our jobs and play as a team, and that certainly was a team performance tonight.”

Goalscorer Donovan agreed with Keane’s sentiments and further added that it was the type of performance expected by the league champions.

“I think so,” he said. “We had a really, really good performance against [Real] Salt Lake last week at home, a real good performance midweek [against Cartagines in the CONCACAF] Champions League.

“This is a massive win for our team ... I think we're confident. Offensively, we're really starting to click.

“Defensively, now it's two shutouts in a row. I think we're building towards really good things.”
