LA Galaxy sign Griffin, release Dominguez

LA Galaxy have snapped up midfielder Leonard Griffin from the Portland Timbers of the USL First Division. Griffin trained with the Galaxy at the end of the 2008 season an accompanied the team to New Zealand for the friendly against the Oceania All-Stars, playing the final 10 minutes of that match. He has previous MLS experience with Chicago Fire, where he spent three years.

LA Galaxy have also come to agreements with goalkeeper Steve Cronin and forward Jovan Kirovski for new contracts ahead of the 2009 season. The Galaxy acquired Kirovski, a former U.S. National Team player, in November in a trade with the San Jose Earthquakes.

Additionally, the Galaxy have released defender Eduardo Dominguez. The 30-year old Lanus, Argentina native joined the Galaxy in July from Huracán of the Argentine Primera Division and played in three games for the club, making two starts.
